One of the earliest topics to appear here was the wacky anime series Azumanga Daioh. The cartoon isn’t about giant robots, so it must be about a group of Japanese schoolgirls. One of the musical themes is beautiful and simple, plaintive yet hopeful.
Paniponi Dash! is a little of this, and a little of that, with some obvious inspiration from Azumanga Daioh. Mr. Tadakichi is little Chiyo-chan’s dog, and Miss Sakaki has a totally bizarre fantasy about Chiyo-chan’s father, who she imagines is a freakish creature.

For sheer wacky fun, it’s hard to beat. But every so often it has a quiet and poignant sequence, as I’ve pointed out previously. Here’s another one.
