While I was away…

October 29th, 2009

I should take more time off from the blog. October has been the third busiest month this year for hits!

While I was away, to my utter amazement, lo and behold, those kooky ladies from Belgium, K3, finally went to #1 on the blog hit list! I suppose that must be due to the interest in the new girl, who was introduced at a live show in Holland a few weeks ago. Her name is Josje, which begs the question, how can they still call the group K3?

(BTW… Karen Damen is pregnant.)

Not only that they are not actually K3 any more, if you go by the names. They are also no pure Flemish group anymore because Josje is from the Netherlands and you notice that if you hear them talking.

But if you take the three finalists (Josje, Madelon and Noa), in my opinion, Josje is still the best choice despite not being from Belgium.

Concerning the blog traffic, some of that could come from me, as the rss feed I have in my feed list is just for the K3 category and I usually update the feeds multiple times per day. But I doubt that my traffic has increased in October because I don’t have that much time any more because I have started studying in October.

Hi Joachim — I can see the category as a whole getting hits, and I assume that is your doing, but there was a definite increase in K3 activity in October on specific posts, representing hundreds of additional hits per day compared to every prior month.

One thing I can’t do with the statistics is relate hits of particular posts to specific IP addresses. There’s a WordPress plug-in I could use that might provide a better picture, but I encountered a glitch that I haven’t bothered to figure out, partly because I’m annoyed that the plug-in puts a smiley on the site.

Well, SOME K3 is better than NO K3 for us die-hard fans. Hi, Joachim! Doug had to drag me kicking and screaming, but now I’m hopelessly hooked on the old K3. Being his twin sister, he knew it was only a matter of time before it would happen!

Maybe they should call it K2+J.

    Well,
being a K3 fan myself, and Kathleen being my favorite for a long time, I have seen the new K3 performing 6 times, on severate dates, and I think that they are more joyfull than they have been for a long time. How sad the departure was, at this point in time it worked out very, very well. And yes I have been seeing Kathleen (twice) after the break. Relaxed like never before, so even she did benefit of her descision. A special thanks I have for Kristel, knowing that Kathleen was my favorite, she actually did put effort in making me feel at home so to speak.

Theo — The only way I could ever be in a photo like this is if I photoshop myself into one!

Do you think that Kathleen’s unhappiness was becoming a drag on the group? In a Google translation of an interview with Kathleen she said she would have to force herself to stay with K3, but she didn’t say why that was, and to me it seemed almost an insult to Karen and Kristel.

I know Kathleen wanted a solo career, and I know K3’s first manager urged her to quit the group. But I wonder what else might have made her leave?
