Charlie Brown’s All-Stars

When I was a kid I really enjoyed playing baseball, despite the fact I wasn’t very good at it. I lost the love of the game in my teens, but I still love “Charlie Brown’s All-Stars.”

This was the SECOND “Charlie Brown” special to come out, right? “The Great Pumpkin” came out that same year in the fall. Am I correct in recalling that they did not always play this every year? It must not have garnered the ratings of the Christmas and Halloween specials. Many other, weaker Charlie Brown specials were made, like “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown,” but I always skip those.
I find it interesting that despite all the other kids’ complaints, they STILL look up to Charlie Brown to be the pitcher AND to keep the ball team organized. This theme was also shown in “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” where Charlie Brown was assigned to be the director, but despite lack of faith on the part of the cast and crew, he emerged somewhat self-assured and victorious.
