That’s my bank

Bank of America in Charlotte, NC, started out in San Francisco as the Bank of Italy in San Francisco. I became a BOA customer after it acquired Fleet, which was an OK bank that previously had acquired BankBoston, a terribly run outfit.

Ten years ago, a totally incompetent underwriter at BankBoston, who never answered any of my phone calls, made my life miserable. So I was glad to see them go. Our checking and savings accounts are at BOA, but everything else is at an excellent local institution, Middlesex Savings Bank.

Anyway, last week 60 Minutes on CBS had a profile of BOA and chatted with its CEO, Ken Lewis, who says some things worth hearing.
