Fifty eight years ago today, Peanuts began. The first strip has been reprinted a zillion times, so instead I’ll post the first anniversary strip, from October 2, 1951.

The Complete Peanuts series of books from Fantagraphics makes it possible to see the development of the strip. But I scanned this picture from a copy of the first Peanuts book from Holt, Rinehart.
