Dear Prudence, Won’t You Come Out to Play?
May 19th, 2008
Everybody knows the story of George Harrison meeting Pattie Boyd on the set of A Hard Day’s Night. But who is the girl in this photo?

For my money, for sheer beauty she is in Vivien Leigh territory, and she outshines Pattie. Here they are together in AHDN.
But who is she? I’m not 100% sure, but I believe her name is Prudence Hooper. There is virtually no information available on Pru Hooper that I have ever been able to find. Where are you, Prudence?

Only Prudence heeded the “very clean” grandfather’s warning! Say, what about super-trivia-king D.J. Rogers? What’s his take on the beautiful brunette?

Yep, I agree with you, Doug! I dunno… Pattie Boyd always made me think “squirrelly-cheeked,” even though she certainly was not fat. I prefer the brunette, too, by far.In the top photo, she reminds me of a young Audrey Hepburn. And in the lower photo, she reminds me of a young Natalie Wood. Both of whom, of course, were very lovely looking ladies. It would be interesting to know what that dark haired lass is doing these days… Is she a retired grandmother? Working as a hair dresser - cosmetologist, or what?

Pop platters are my bag, Beanie Baby. Birds and chicks? That’s Doggy’s domain. If he don’t know, who does? Dig it? Yeah!

Beanie Baby! Ha! What a pun. I agree, Lizzie! Patti does have squirrely chicks, and squinty eyes. She’s still cute, as George obviously thought. OK, so I’m jealous! It’s amazing that they were able to act so cooly around all three of the Beatles in that scene. Perhaps they had … already gotten to know them better beforehand?

The girl holding ringo is Susan Withman, there is an error, it says that she is Pattie.

Great stuff. There’s nothing like seeing original source material. Thank you again, Janis! Please see the item I just posted, with a recent photo of Pru. Another mystery solved!

This clip does not show Pattie to great advantage. She was the quintessential 60s British chick, with long blonde hair, great gams,
big blue eyes, pouty lips, a slight overbite and a cute gap between her front teeth!

I selected that clip for Pru, of course, and I agree that it’s not to Pattie’s advantage, other than the fact that she has a word of dialogue. I also agree that Pattie was the model who set the look for 60’s women, including Michelle Phillips and Twiggy. Pru is a classic British beauty who is comparable, in my opinion, to Vivien Leigh and Moira Shearer.
