What a contrast pretty and refined Petula Clark makes to Moon Unit Zappa, less than 40 years later. Barf me out!
Yes! It’s pretty Petula Clark. An actress before she was a singer, Pet made quite a few movies in England.
I don’t like to think that she had to wait for Julie Andrews to make it big here before she got her chance in America, but perhaps there’s something to that idea.
The movie clip from “I Know Where I’m Going!” has a splice in it — a deft one, I must say — and I faded the audio out at the end to avoid an abrupt end to the music that comes in.
ARGH! WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME? I’m going to take a wild stab at it — wasn’t Petula Clark a child actress before she started singing? I’m going by the small mouth; the speaking voice doesn’t help at all! The young Wendy Hiller is stunning!
