A/V Boy

Embedding audio and video into this blog makes me think of how far things have come from the days when I held the microphone of my treasured Aiwa TP-32A to the TV speaker and recorded Star Trek. Forty years isn’t a long time … is it?

  1. Yes, I did some recording of WABC off of the radio, but don’t recall saving any of it, because tape was precious and I wanted to keep the audio to “Star Trek” and the “Marvel Super Heroes” cartoons.

No, the little Aiwa TP-32A is, alas, long gone. I had it stored away at home while I was at Wastefield State College, but one time when I looked for it … gone. 🙁

  2. Do you still own the original reel to reel tape recorder as shown in the pic – or did you get an identical one off ebay or elsewhere? Does it still work? I still have my GE Cassette Recorder from 1970, but it doesn’t work. Fortunately, you can play cassettes anywhere – or at least you could at one time. I recorded the Spider-Man ABC (?) cartoon when it was on reruns in the summer of 1970. Yes, we’ve come a long way, baby! The entire series is now on DVD, as is Star Trek! Now, did you ever record any WABC radio shows???
